Xbox One X finally releases worldwide today

After a year and a half of hype Microsoft's newest console, the Xbox One X, is finally available to buy in stores.

It's been a long road. Originally announced under the name 'Project Scorpio' back at E3 2016, the console was later renamed to the Xbox One X at the following year's show.

If you want our definitive verdict on the new piece of hardware, then our Xbox One X review is the perfect place to start. TechRadar's own Nick Pino put all the available Xbox One X-enhanced games through their paces to get to the bottom of whether the new hardware is worth its premium asking price.

Get prepared

Once you're done with the review, why not check out our guide to the best Xbox One X games, where we've taken our pick of the enhanced titles for the new console.

If that's sold you on the console, then check out our best Xbox One X deals page to find a bargain. As of the time of writing it's impossible to find the console for cheaper than its standard retail price of $499 / £449, but hunt around and you can find deals that bundle in recent games like Forza Motorsport 7 and The Evil Within 2 for just a tad more than the console itself.

Although the Xbox One X will make games look better on a Full HD TV, to get the biggest impact you're going to want to go 4K. Our guide to the best TVs for gaming is chock full of great buying advice, and also contains our top recommendations for sets that combine low input lag with great picture performance.

Finally, the new console is also no slouch in the audio department, so be sure to check out our more general Xbox One X setup guide for some recommendations of how to give your overall AV setup a boost.
